Pet Dog Insurance - your dog is a member of your family too

Long popular in the UK, pet dog insurance is expanding in popularity in the US now.  As health care costs rise for our pets, dog insurance is becoming more and more popular as a way to control these expenses.

Pet insurance is similar to our human health plans.  The premiums are usually paid on a monthly basis - which works well if your on a budget.  Insurance for you pet is usually available in two type: accident coverage, and full health coverage.

Pet accident coverage will apply if your dog is accidentally injured.  For example, hit by a car, falls on a stick, etc.  The cost for this dog insurance is much less than for full pet health care.  But you need to evaluate the yearly costs to be certain it is worth the expense.

Full insurance coverage for the health of your dog is great if you have an older pet.  Older animals tend to have health conditions that may require frequent visits to the vet, and medication that may go on for months.  These insurance plans for your dogs are more expensive, but they also offer better coverage.

It is best to read the entire policy, including exceptions and exclusions before purchasing any pet insurance for your dog.  Then you can evaluate the costs against your historic spending to see if the deal is good.
