Dog Toy Tips

Anyone bought a toy for a baby lately? Buying a dog toy is not that different. Both of these voracious creatures have teething issues. In both cases the toys are placed in the mouth for hours at a time so they need to be safer than safe. Mature humans do not routinely place their toys in the mouth so they are not likely to be concerned about the distinct possibility of choking.

So now that we have a sense of what dogs need in toys and what they do with them we should be able to govern our choices accordingly. Dog toys need to be safe, that's the number one requirement. A safe toy for a miniature poodle will shatter in the powerful jaws of a Rottweiler. A safe toy is not only well made but also well matched to the breed of dog.

If a toy is 100% safe but 100% boring it will sit in the corner of the room safe as houses and untouched. If you haven't got it yet, choosing a toy for your dog is something of a science partly because the designs manufactured are so numerous and evolved that the choice could take several hours.

A common mistake that dog parents make is projecting your dog toy desires onto your pet. A typical example of this is the considered purchase of a Halloween toy for your dog. This may make you and the kids happy but its bound to leave your pet unmoved.

Once you have satisfied the safety requirements for a dog toy it is time to move into the area of fun. Toys have to be fun, and finding out exactly what your dog's definition of fun might be may take a few tries. Fortunately dog toys are not huge investments so experimenting wont cost you an arm and a leg. One sure way of winning your dog over to a toy is to buy him something hollow that you can stuff with his favorite flavor.
